Transforming Landscapes

At Exotic Designs Landscaping, we are dedicated to crafting stunning and sustainable outdoor spaces that flourish in the unique climate of New Smyrna Beach. Our expertise in landscape design ensures that your property—whether residential or commercial—will not only look beautiful but also thrive in our local environment.

Why New Smyrna Beach?

New Smyrna Beach is renowned for its picturesque coastal beauty, but it also presents unique landscaping challenges. With an average annual rainfall of about 52 inches, our designs are tailored to manage and utilize this water efficiently. Additionally, the salt air and coastal winds can affect plant health and durability, which is why we carefully select salt-tolerant and wind-resistant species for your landscape.

Florida-Friendly Landscaping

As a certified Florida-Friendly Landscaping company, we prioritize:

  • Water Conservation: Our designs incorporate drought-tolerant plants and efficient irrigation systems to minimize water usage.
  • Environmental Protection: We choose native plants that support local wildlife and contribute to the ecological balance.

River Projects for Edgewater, New Smyrna Beach & Ponce Inlet

River front projects are always fun, and not nearly as challenging as ocean front landscapes. Material does not get hit as hard from direct ocean spray, so we can use a lot of different types material. This applies whether you are in New Smyrna Beach, Edgewater, Daytona or in Ponce Inlet (river side). We still have to account for wind damage to most tropical plants.

This project you see below, we were able to repurpose the palms in front. Instead of having to charge the customer for material for this effect, we relocated these palms that were in a bad location (underneath utility lines) from a previous landscapers installation. It is the same situation we see time and time again in landscapes. Plants a cute when they are young, but plants grow and if the right plant is not in the right place…

Recently Completed Sacred Heart Catholic Church Project

Our recently completed project for Sacred Heart Church. As usual, the prep/clean up took the majority of our time. We removed over 28,000 pounds of refuse from the project. Most of the islands were overflowing with buried debris under decomposed bags of much. Somebody along the way thought it was a good idea to use plastic as a weed barrier, including leaving mulch in the bag. Several islands were inundated with torpedo grass, hence, having to remove so much  of the dirt reaching 14-18″ in depth. The torpedo was even growing under the asphalt, so that was an endeavor in itself to remove.

I hope that they will stay on top of these islands now. Even if they have little pieces of the weed, they should be able to treat them without the long runners keeping them alive and taking over the islands again.

We created a landscape design that was simple to maintain and keep the integrity of the design for years to come. We created it using color and depth, with some butterfly attractor trees. The design keeps them without the hassle of upkeep or trimming.

Other than the usual weeds that will still make their appearance–even with commercial grade weed barrier–this project should stay clean in and appealing for many years to come.
